Little Things That Make You Smile

Little Things that Make You Smile

What makes you smile? Maybe a specific song on the radio, a funny card, a blossoming flower?

We all have little things that bring us joy and touch us differently.   For me, the feeling comes from 2 crossing guards, yes! crossing guards.

Every week I play hockey, and when I drive to the rink, I pass 2 crossing guards.  One is always waving with a huge smile, and the second is always wearing a different, unique hat.  At Thanksgiving it was a turkey, and lately, they are all holiday themed.  With a smile, we share a moment, and I look forward to seeing both of them every week.

Recently, I had the opportunity to hear Margaret Trudeau speak.  She was an open, honest and touching speaker with rocking red suede boots!  As she signed a book for me, I was able to share a personal story: In 2009, while reading a Chatelaine article about Margaret Trudeau, my dad had a sudden heart attack, but the article brought him comfort in his last moments, for which I am grateful. Mrs. Trudeau and I shared a quick hug and a tear, but that moment – that connection – is something I won’t soon forget.

So, the question is: how do we transform these moments and make your brand memorable through promotional products?

Let’s use the example of a mug:

A mug, when it fits perfectly in someone’s hand, brings instant comfort. Filled with a warm drink on a cold morning, that mug brings happiness and a sure smile. Use this opportunity to showcase your messaging. With two sides to a mug, opt to incorporate a message that connects with your target audience all the while showcasing your brand’s logo or website.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that are the most memorable – go with a quality product and focus on the feeling you want to elicit. Don’t overthink it!
